ITF World Tennis Tour: Dikko congratulates Ogunjobi

Abuja: Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC) Shehu Dikko congratulated Success Ogunjobi on her impressive victory in Saturday’s ITF World Tennis Tour Junior 30.

Ogunjobi emerged victorious in both the first and second legs, claiming the second-week final single female title.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ogunjobi defeated Luczak Luise of Germany 6-3,7-5 in the final match played at the Tennis Centre of Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

According to Dikko, this achievement is a testament to the NSC’s vision and aligns perfectly with President Bola Tinubu’s mandate to reset, refocus, and reboot Nigerian sports.

“This is by emphasising domestic and grassroots development; we nurture talent from the ground up.

“The tournament, featuring top young players under 18 and 15, showcases Nigeria’s potential and highlights its success.

“Ogunjobi’s recent win is a shining example of Nigeria’s growing prowess in tennis and the bright future ahead for the sport on the global stage,” he said.

He also praised the collaboration between the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) and the NSC, which made the event successful.

“I extend my congratulations to the President of the NTF, Adedayo Akindoju, for his tireless efforts in collaborating with the NSC to make this event a success,” he said.

Dikko highlighted the importance of synergy among stakeholders, citing the presence of Hannatu Musara, Minister for Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy.

Also, Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawale said the victory was evidence of a more integrated approach to national development.

“This collaboration aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision for national development.

“By working together, we can ensure that every sector contributes its unique strengths to drive economic growth, ultimately realising President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda and shared vision for a brighter future for all Nigerians,” he said.

The International Tennis Federation (ITF ) event started on June 2 and ended on June 14 at the Tennis Centre of Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

Twelve countries are participating, including Nigeria, Ghana, Germany, South Africa, Egypt, India, Korea, China, Spain, France, and Thailand.
