Zaria (Kaduna State) The Emir of Zazzau in Kaduna State, Amb. Ahmad Bamalli has charged media practitioners in Nigeria with the importance of objectivity and accuracy in journalism in enhancing public trust and national development.
The royal father appealed during a courtesy visit by Bashir Rabe-Mani, Kaduna Zonal Manager, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and Yusuf Jidda, Kaduna Regional Manager, Media Trust Group, in Zaria.
He also highlighted that journalists played a crucial role in shaping public opinions and influencing societal narratives.
The emir further urged journalists to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, accuracy, and fairness in their reporting.
Bamalli further stressed that objectivity and balanced reportage were key to building trust between the media and the public.
He said: “As guardians of truth, journalists must strive to present balanced and unbiased reports, giving voice to diverse perspectives while avoiding sensationalism and misinformation.”
The reverted traditional ruler added that the visit would open new opportunities for robust collaboration between the two media giants and the emirate council.
The royal father stated that the Zazzau emirate was one of the complex emirate councils in Northern Nigeria, adding, “It is one of the emirates in the region with four unrelated families as the ruling houses.”
He explained that the four ruling houses were the Katsinawa, Bare-Bari, Mallawa, and Sullubawa dynasties.
“I am from the Mallawa dynasty, probably one of the first emirs to have relationships with the three ruling houses of the Emirate.
“My mother’s grandmother was a princess from the Bare-Bari dynasty, and my wife is the daughter of the late Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris, who was from the Katsinawa dynasty.
“I could not see why some of the media were dishing out unsubstantiated and unverified issues, hoping that this visit offers an opportunity for new narratives,” Bamalli said.
Speaking earlier, Bashir Rabe-Mani extolled the emir’s unwavering commitment to sustainable peace, unity, and security in the Emirate, Kaduna State, and the country in general.
He said the emir’s words of wisdom reminded journalists of their responsibility to uphold the integrity of their profession and contribute positively to societal discourse.
“I bring greetings and goodwill from the management and all the staff members of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the leading content provider in the Nigerian media landscape,” the zonal manager said.
He added that Zazzau’s rich heritage and cultural significance were a testament to Nigeria’s diverse and vibrant traditions.
“Your Royal Highness Sir, your leadership and wisdom have been instrumental in preserving and promoting the Emirate’s legacy and bolstering peace, unity and the socioeconomic prosperity of Kaduna State and Nigeria.
“Your Royal Highness Sir, I commend your sustained invaluable efforts in fostering development in the Emirate and the nation.
“Your commitment to the well-being of your subjects is truly admirable,” he said.
Therefore, the zonal manager applauded the emir for his hospitality and gracious reception, adding that the visit would further strengthen the ties between NAN and the good people of Zazzau emirate.
Also corroborating, Jidda commended the emir for being a father to all the people of the Emirate, Kaduna State and Nigeria at large.
The regional manager opined that Bamalli had remained a reliable pillar for his people, adding that his commitment to boosting security and the socioeconomic prosperity of Nigeria was unparalleled.
