Police arraign 2 for allegedly stealing couch, seater furniture

Ibadan: Police on Thursday arraigned two persons, Amos Arojojoye, 51, and Kayode Niyi, 55, before an Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court in Ibadan for allegedly stealing a couch and a one-seater furniture.

The duo, who did not provide fixed addresses, were charged with conspiracy and theft, but they pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Insp Toyin Ibrahim, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on May 3 at Iyaganku GRA, Ibadan.

He alleged that the defendants stole one couch and one-seater furniture worth N1.8 million, belonging to one Mr Adeyinka Adeyemo.

He said the offences contravened Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mr Olaolu Olanipekun, granted the defendants bail of N300,000 each with one surety each in like sum.

He adjourned the case until July 23 for a hearing.
