Awka: The Police Command in Anambra has begun documentation and health checks for the State Vigilante Operatives in preparation for their training and re-orientation.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, made this known in a statement on Wednesday in Awka.
“The Police command in Anambra is set to commence the training and reorientation of Vigilante Operatives in the state.
“Following the above, the command would on July 9, begin the documentation and necessary health checks of the operatives,” he said.
Ikenga said that the rationale behind the training was to equip them on security protocols, human rights, and community policing security principles.
He said that the measure would enhance collaboration among the Vigilante Corps, police, and other security agencies for the overall safety and security in the state.
The police spokesman said that the training would feature lectures on ethics and professionalism,
” It would also focus on synergy with other security agencies, management of crime scenes, the rule of law, and handling of exhibits, as well as other necessary security needs.
“The ongoing documentation would help to ensure accountability, enhance the organisational structure of the group, and streamline Vigilante operations in the state.
This effort demonstrates the police command and the state government’s collaborative commitment to community security and safety,” he said.
