Abuja: The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development is set to embrace digitalisation as a strategic tool to enhance staff performance and workplace efficiency.

Speaking at the 2025 Mid-Year Sensitisation Conference in Abuja, Permanent Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Kana announced plans to upgrade infrastructure, including the procurement of new computers and installation of uninterrupted power systems.

Kana said this in Abuja on Tuesday at the 2025 Mid-Year Sensitisation Conference themed “Strategic Management Labour Collaboration: A Veritable Platform for Achieving the Aviation Ministerial Mandate”.

According to him, leveraging digital technologies by the staff will create new opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency within the ministry’s workplace.

“Digitisation refers to the process of converting analogue information into digital formats, such as scanning documents or images. More computers will be procured, particularly desktop computers with antivirus software.

“We will ensure steady power by an uninterrupted power supply from inverters and solar panels. The management will enhance staff welfare by providing additional training and a supportive environment.

“Let us work together to ensure the Performance Management System (PMS) is operational in our ministry for individual and collective benefits, “he said.

Speaking, Mr Hector Nnadi, Chairman of the Joint Consultative and Negotiating Council (JCNC), said the staff would deepen efforts toward closing the gap between the ministerial mandate and the agenda of Mr Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

“The ministerial mandate comprises – formulate, supervise and manage the nation’s aviation and aerospace policies, fostering a safe, secure and efficient aviation industry in line with best global standards practices.

“Whereas, the Honourable Minister’s Five-Point Agenda is to ensure strict compliance with safety and regulation, infrastructure development, support for local operators, human capacity development and revenue generation.
