Gashua, Yobe (Nigeria): In a significant stride toward academic excellence, the Federal University Gashua (FUGA) in Yobe State has promoted 10 senior lecturers to the rank of Professor and 12 others to Reader, following approvals by the institution’s Governing Council during its September 4 meeting.
This is contained in a statement by the university’s Head, Information and Protocol Unit, Alhaji Adamu Saleh, in Gashua on Friday.
He said the promotions were approved at the council’s regular meeting held on Thursday, September 4.
“The decision underscores the university’s commitment to rewarding merit, excellence, and dedication in teaching, research, and community service,” Saleh said.
The official said the council also approved the conversion of three non-teaching staffers to the academic cadre.
On the non-teaching cadre, he said, six senior members of staff were promoted to deputy directors.
Saleh said that the employment contracts of four staff members were renewed for varying periods.
He said the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Maimuna Waziri, congratulated all those promoted and appointed, describing the development as a milestone in the university’s journey toward growth and academic excellence.
“She urged the beneficiaries to justify the confidence reposed in them by deepening their commitment to scholarship, innovation, and community service,” Saleh said.
He said the council reaffirmed its determination to sustain a culture of merit, encouraging hard work and strengthening the global competitiveness of the university.
