Awka, Nigeria: In a landmark move aimed at boosting morale and improving welfare in the health sector, Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has approved the full implementation of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) for state health workers.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Head of Service, Mrs Theodora Igwegbe, and made available to journalists on Thursday in Awka.
According to the statement, the governor approved the CONHESS for nurses, nurse anaesthetists, psychiatric nurses, community health workers and technicians.
Others are medical laboratory technicians, medical laboratory scientists, radiographers and physiotherapists.
It stated that the approval also extended to all relevant ministries, departments, and agencies, including the Local Government Service Commission.
The statement further noted that all relevant bodies had been instructed to commence implementation without delay.
“The Accountant-General of the State and the Accountant-General for Local Government have been directed to ensure the immediate execution of this directive.
“All concerned parties are to ensure strict compliance,” the statement said.
