Yola, Adamawa State (Nigeria): Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has laid a transformative and enduring foundation that promises to shape the destiny of generations yet unborn, according to Dr Declan Didacus of Adamawa State University.
Didacus, a lecturer in the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Administration and Management Sciences, stated this at the Forward Adamawa Summit in Yola on Saturday.
The academic said that the Fintiri administration succeeded in building a just and egalitarian society.
According to him, Adamawa has become a land of many opportunities for all citizens, particularly the youth.
Didacus listed some of the projects executed by the present administration, including flyovers, road infrastructure, timely payment of salaries, and investment in healthcare, education, and security, among others.
“It is only proper to ‘blow the trumpet’ of this administration if we genuinely desire upcoming leaders to follow its example.
“It is undeniable that Jimeta has now transformed into a megacity,” he said.
Mr Ishaya Durkwa, a development expert and guest speaker at the summit, tasked Adamawa citizens, especially the youth, to unite and ensure that a credible person takes over from Gov. Fintiri for sustainability.
“So it is essential to talk about two things. How can we maintain that which has been done?
“And how can we build upon that which has been done so that it will aggregate for the emancipation and participation of our own people?” he asked.
He urged the youth to recognise the summit’s potential for their future success.
Durkwa emphasised that the conversation was both essential and timely, enabling people to plan for the appointment of a visionary leader and avoid the risk of an unqualified individual.
Mr Victor Dogo, Senior Special Assistant on Social Mobilisation to Gov. Fintiri, said during the summit, no fewer than 1,000 youth drawn from the grassroots were trained to secure their future.
According to him, the essence of the summit is to make the people understand that the state deserves to get a qualified person who would sustain the giant stride of Gov. Fintiri.
