MainPower Announces 10-Day Power Outage in Enugu   

Enugu, Nigeria:  MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) has announced a scheduled 10-day power outage in parts of Enugu metropolis to facilitate critical maintenance and infrastructure upgrades.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by Mr. Emeka Ezeh, Head of Corporate Communications at MEDL, in Enugu on Monday.

Ezeh explained that the outage is part of ongoing maintenance, rehabilitation, and reinforcement projects being carried out by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) at its New Haven Station.

He stated that the planned outage will be implemented in segments from Wednesday, October 22 to Thursday, October 31, 2025, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily.

According to the statement, the outage will affect Kingsway Line 1 on October 22, Emene Industrial Line 1 on October 23, Thinkers Corner Line on October 24, and Trans Ekulu Line on October 25. On October 26, Kingsway Line 2 and 9th Mile Line will be affected, followed by Emene Industrial Line 2 on October 28,

Ugwuogo Line on October 29, and Ituku Ozalla Line on October 31.

Ezeh noted that the development will impact several 33KV feeders, including Kingsway Line 1 and 2, Emene Industrial Line 1 and 2, Thinkers Corner Line, Trans Ekulu Line, Ugwuogo Line, and Ituku Ozalla Line.

He added that customers in Emene Industrial Layout, Abakpa Nike, Transekulu, Nowas, Ugbodogwu, Thinkers Corner, Ugbo Nnebedum, Nkpologwu, 9th Mile, Shoprite, Golf Estate, Zoo Estate, and Okpara Avenue will experience supply interruptions during this period.

Other affected areas include Kingsway Road, Abakaliki Road, CBN Quarters, Railway Quarters, Artisan, Ngwo, Coal Camp, Ologo Quarters, Uwani, and Asata. Golden Royale, Iva Valley, Centenary City, Ugwuaji, Amechi, Obeagu, and surrounding communities will also be impacted.

Ezeh expressed regret over the inconvenience the outage may cause and appealed for customers’ understanding, emphasizing that the project is aimed at improving overall service quality.
