Abuja: President Bola Tinubu pays tribute to Chief Kessington Adebutu on his 90th birthday, lauding him as a national icon whose legacy of philanthropy, entrepreneurship, and service continues to shape Nigeria’s social and economic landscape.
The President, in a tribute on Friday in Abuja, said the nonagenarian’s life exemplifies integrity, compassion, and selfless service to humanity.
Tinubu praised Adebutu’s inspiring journey from humble beginnings in Iperu-Iremo, Ogun State, to becoming one of Nigeria’s most successful entrepreneurs and philanthropists.
” From a humble background in the serene town of Iperu-Iremo, where his life’s journey began, Chief Adebutu rose to national prominence as a businessman, philanthropist, and cultural icon who embodies the virtues of hard work, honour, and compassion.”
The President said he shared a long and cordial relationship with Adebutu, built on mutual respect and admiration.
” He is not only a friend but also a reliable brother, a loyal, honest, and dependable gentleman whose integrity and humility are widely admired.
” Through his admirable personality, business acumen, resilience, and benevolent spirit, Chief Adebutu distinguished himself as one of Nigeria’s most outstanding entrepreneurs.

Tinubu commended Adebutu for pioneering Nigeria’s modern lotto industry, which has created jobs, sustained families, and inspired countless young Nigerians.
