Lagos: Spotify has unveiled a significant update for its global community,  introducing “Listening Stats”, an interactive and highly shareable feature that gives listeners a dynamic recap of their music week.

Phiona Okumu, Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa at Spotify, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Lagos.

“The platform is constantly innovating ways to bring fans closer to the artists and sounds that matter, and this new feature is a game-changer for music conversation.

“This new data view is designed to be living and breathing; it updates every 24 hours, giving you a continuous, real-time look at your current musical direction and ensuring the freshest personalised recommendations are waiting for you,” Okumu said.

She said that every week, users would receive a deep dive into their top artists and songs from the last month, complemented by brand-new playlists that intelligently capture the essence of what they have been enjoying.

“A key element is the special weekly highlight, which can mark a significant milestone, a brilliant discovery, or simply demonstrate the unique flavour of your personal sound,” she said.

According to her, the stats are built for social interaction, which allows users to instantly post snapshots, compare tunes, and peek at what friends, family, or coworkers are listening to.

“Like its popular personalised siblings, daylist, Release Radar, and Discover Weekly, Listening Stats is about exploring and defining your unique sound, making it the perfect musical prelude and exciting warm-up to Wrapped, Spotify’s much-loved year-end spectacle,” Okumu said.
