Minna: Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Monday held a private meeting with former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, at his hilltop residence in Minna, Niger State.
Sources said the closed-door session lasted about 30 minutes before Obasanjo departed for the airport. Though no official statement was released, insiders linked the visit to pressing national issues, including Nigeria’s political climate and the 2027 general elections.
Obasanjo, who was escorted from the Ahmed Bola Tinubu International Airport in Minna by Government House protocol officials, has recently intensified consultations with political figures. He recently hosted opposition party leaders at his residence in Abeokuta, fueling speculation about his growing involvement in shaping the country’s political direction.
The meeting with Babangida — one of Nigeria’s most influential elder statesmen — is expected to stir debate over the role of former leaders in navigating the nation’s turbulent political landscape.
