Lagos: The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced that 31 ships laden with petroleum products, food items, and other goods are expected to arrive at Lagos ports between Jan 24 and 29.
The agency also confirmed that 21 vessels are currently discharging petroleum products and other commodities at the Apapa, Lekki, and Tin Can Island ports. According to the NPA, the ongoing operations involve offloading a wide range of cargo, including crude oil, refined fuel, buckwheat, pallets, general cargo, containers, fresh fish, bulk urea, salt, and bulk gypsum.
The authority explained that the expected shipments fall into distinct categories: petroleum products, crude oil, bulk gas, gasoline, buckwheat, bulk fertiliser, gypsum, and containers carrying general cargo.
In its latest update, the NPA noted that 13 ships have already arrived and are awaiting berthing. Their cargo includes bulk urea, crude oil, empty containers, fresh fish, alkaline, base oil, and general cargo.
Highlighting the significance of these operations, the NPA emphasized that the steady inflow of vessels underscores ongoing efforts to sustain the supply of essential commodities and industrial inputs through Nigeria’s busiest ports.
