ADC Warns: ‘Peter Obi or Nothing’ Chants Harm Unity, Not Helping Him

Abuja: The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has cautioned supporters of presidential aspirants against divisive rhetoric, stressing that slogans such as “Peter Obi or nothing” undermine unity and ultimately hurt the candidate’s chances.

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, issued the warning during a live audio conversation on X (formerly Twitter), urging supporters to focus on building inclusiveness ahead of the June primaries.

He noted that portraying any aspirant as the sole option weakens outreach, hardens regional positions, and plays into the ruling party’s advantage.

Abdullahi emphasized that all aspirants are qualified and deserve fair consideration, adding that vilifying individuals or regions complicates efforts to strengthen cohesion within the opposition.

“Those shouting Peter Obi or nothing are not helping him; they preach division and limit the broad support needed for victory,” he said.

He further explained that while proposals to hold the 2027 general elections earlier could be both beneficial and challenging for the ADC, the party’s priority remains credible, peaceful, and nationwide inclusivity.

The spokesman also highlighted the party’s determination to perform strongly in the forthcoming FCT area council elections, following its poor showing in Anambra.
