Abuja: The Federal Government praised Ologodidan Jezi Foundation (OJF) Global for providing food to more than 5,000 Nigerians.

Speaking at OJF Global’s Second Edition Abuja Food Drive, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, praised the foundation’s impact and reaffirmed the ministry’s partnership in tackling poverty, hunger, and vulnerability.

Doro, represented by Mr Tunde Doherty, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) United Kingdom Chapter and Chairman of the Committee of Diaspora Chairmen (CDC), said the ministry’s core objectives included poverty reduction, disaster preparedness and mitigation, among other humanitarian interventions.

“The ministry itself is the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, and the way to reduce poverty is by seamlessly partnering and collaborating with NGOs.

“NGOs that are renowned. NGOs that we are satisfied with what they are doing, what they have been doing. So OJF is one of those NGOs that has been very effective in delivering to people.

“So it is only great for us as a ministry dedicated to solving such problems, to partner with existing, very formidable organisations like OJF, and I will appeal to Nigerians that in creating jobs, we have to be ready to acquire skills.

“The Renew Hope Agenda has created many opportunities where Nigerians can train themselves and acquire skills that will be enough to sustain them and contribute to the economy.”

Doro therefore urged Nigerians to be ready to acquire knowledge and use it to take care of themselves, get out of poverty, and contribute to the nation.

He also called on well-meaning Nigerians to emulate OJF Global and imbibe the culture of lending a helping hand as a way of giving back to society.

Dr Rachael Ojuade, OJF Global’s Founder and Peace Chairperson, confirmed ongoing commitment to humanitarian work and sustainable development.

Ojuade described OJF’s work as blending immediate aid with long-term empowerment to strengthen Nigeria’s socio-economic systems.

She said, “The purpose of this organisation is to give back to society and the lives of widows, widowers, orphanages, the downtrodden, unemployed youths, people who cannot take care of themselves, including the physically challenged.

“The first edition was held last year, 2025, in April;we are marking the second edition. Yes, we are collaborating with some partners, other NGOs, and individuals who have been giving back to society.

“Today, we came with over 5,000 foodstuffs, groundnut oil, salt, rice, and spaghetti. Out of what we have, we were able to bring little, and we want to do more.”

Ojuade said OJF was targeting two million households, adding that the organisation remained dedicated to strengthening national cooperative systems, improving economic structures, and responding swiftly to humanitarian crises.

OJF Global responds in crises with peace advocacy, mental health outreach, emergency relief, and large-scale aid.

Ojuade noted OJF’s investments in social enterprises across real estate, tourism, microfinance, and agriculture.

She added, “The profits from these ventures are reinvested into our humanitarian work, creating a virtuous cycle of hope and independence. We don’t just give people fish; we teach fishing and help build the entire community.”

Some of the beneficiaries of the food bank initiative commended OJF Global for the initiative, describing the organisation as one deeply rooted in faith and purpose.

Mrs Florence Andrew said, “It’s an organisation to be identified with, because it is the word of God that is being preached here. We are not there just for what we get or for empowerment.

“We are there because it is basically ordained for widows, orphans, and the helpless. Giving is good, and I call on Nigerians and the global community to embrace the culture of giving.”

Another beneficiary, Mrs Helen Justin from Nasarawa State, expressed deep gratitude for what she called life-changing support.
