Lagos – The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) reports a busy week for Lagos ports, with 21 ships now discharging petroleum products and other commodities at Apapa, Lekki, and Tin-Can Island terminals.
Cargoes being offloaded are grouped as follows: petroleum products (petrol, diesel, crude oil), containers, bulk materials (bulk gas, bulk gypsum, bulk urea), and perishables (fresh fish).
Additionally, 31 ships are expected to berth by February 20 with petroleum products, food items, and other essential goods. These vessels will deliver general cargo, bulk oil, bulk wheat, assorted containers, raw crude oil, petrol, bulk gas, bulk urea, diesel, and bulk gypsum.
The NPA also stated that 10 ships loaded with bulk urea, crude oil, diesel, containers, and general cargo have arrived and are awaiting berthing.
This surge in maritime activity highlights Lagos ports’ key role in supporting Nigeria’s energy supply, food security, and industrial inputs, while reflecting the increased need for efficient port operations and logistics.
