Ikorodu, Lagos State: Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos East Senatorial District have urged political appointees, residents, and youths to mobilise actively in support of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re‑election campaign.

The rally, held in Ikorodu, was framed as a call to consolidate grassroots backing and sustain the party’s dominance in the state.

At the event, Lagos APC Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi highlighted the strong cohesion among Ikorodu’s political leaders, attributing it to the area’s calibre of representatives.

Ojelabi praised the district’s strong performance in electronic party member registration and encouraged stakeholders to maintain this progress to reinforce the administration’s successes.

“Ikorodu people are very focused and doing well, as shown in the ongoing e-registration, because they are leading, which shows they are ready.

“Our current efforts involve promoting the party by highlighting its achievements and consolidating the administration’s progress,” he said.

Also speaking, Sen. Mukhail Abiru (APC Lagos East) said all stakeholders had come together to endorse President Tinubu based on his leadership capacity and bold reforms that had yielded positive results.

Abiru described Ikorodu as a progressive community, noting its large voting population, particularly among young people.

He disclosed that the party in the senatorial district had registered not less than 100,000 new members during the ongoing e-registration.

“Ikorodu is known to be progressive, which is what the president also stands for, and we have always displayed it since the regime of late Gov. Lateef Jakande of Lagos state.

“Ikorodu has registered not less than 100,000 new party supporters; we delivered the highest votes in Lagos state during the 2023 general election,” he said.

Earlier, Rep. Babajimi Benson, Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, urged residents to vote massively to re-elect President Tinubu, considering his policy and economic reforms, which had yielded positive results, as confirmed by the World Bank.

“We are celebrating our president for his policy, which has started yielding results. We have built a hospital and employed more than 200 people,” he said.

He noted that the rally’s purpose was to express appreciation for the president’s policy reforms, which are beginning to yield noticeable results.

Offering further perspectives, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye and Bashorun Olorunfunmi, both members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), noted that the rally demonstrated party solidarity and support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid, boosting morale among APC members.

Similarly, Mr Moshood Aro, representing Ikorodu Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly, and Mr Gbolahan Ogunleye of Constituency I, reiterated that the rally was an opportunity to recognise the president’s inclusive leadership.

They stated that the president’s reform agenda was notable and had received recognition from the World Bank.

Other speakers, including Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Mrs Bisola Olusanya, Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, and Mrs Adebimpe Akinsola, emphasised party loyalty and sustained grassroots engagement as key to the APC’s success in 2027.
