Lagos: The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) says Lagos ports are witnessing heavy activity, with 18 ships currently discharging petroleum products and other commodities, while 46 additional vessels are expected to berth between now and February 22.
According to the NPA, the ships presently at Apapa, Lekki, and Tin‑Can Island ports are offloading buck fertiliser, general cargo, bulk sugar, gasoline, bulk urea, condensate, bulk gypsum, and containers.
The authority added that 46 more ships loaded with petroleum products, food items, and other goods are en route to Lagos.
These incoming vessels will bring general cargo, bulk urea, bulk wheat, empty containers, crude oil, RWA crude oil, bulk gypsum, trucks, bulk gas, bulk pallets, containers with assorted goods, bulk salt, and petrol.
NPA further disclosed that seven ships have already arrived at the ports and are awaiting berthing. They are carrying bulk urea, crude oil, diesel, aviation fuel, general cargo, and petrol.
The surge underscores the strategic importance of Lagos ports as Nigeria’s busiest maritime hubs, handling critical imports ranging from petroleum products to food supplies. The expected influx of 46 ships signals intensified port operations and highlights the role of maritime logistics in sustaining the country’s economy.
