Lagos: The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results of the 2025 Second Series Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for private candidates.
Moyosola Adesina, Acting Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, advised candidates to check their results at waecdirect.org. Candidates should access digital copies on the WAEC Digital Certificate platform. Those who need printed certificates must apply online through the e-Certman portal.
WAEC reported that 69,604 candidates registered, representing a 1.8% increase from the 2024 entry figure of 68,342. Of these, 65,752 candidates sat for the examination across 370 centres nationwide.
Among them were 235 candidates with special needs, including those who were visually or hearing impaired and those who were albino. The gender distribution was 32,005 males (48.68%) and 33,747 females (51.32%), with females slightly outnumbering males.
Out of all candidates, 61,943 (94.21%) had their results fully processed and released. Meanwhile, 3,809 (5.79%) had some subjects still being processed. These delays were due to errors traceable to the candidates. WAEC is working to finish processing for those affected.
Performance analysis revealed that 33,989 candidates (51.69%) obtained credit or higher in at least 5 subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. More critically, 27,727 candidates (42.17%) obtained credit or above in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics — the benchmark for university admission.
Breaking down by gender, 13,416 males (48.39%) and 14,311 females (51.61%) achieved this standard, giving females a slight edge.
WAEC said 1,899 candidates’ results were withheld, 2.89% of the total. This was due to suspected malpractice. Investigations are still ongoing. The Council Committee will decide the outcome and inform affected candidates directly.
Candidates should promptly review their results, access their digital certificates, and complete required online applications. WAEC now streamlines access and reduces delays in official documents by transitioning to digital certification.
