Turkish President, Kurdish Leader Hold Talks on Regional Affairs

Istanbul: Turkish President Recep Erdogan on Saturday spoke over the phone with the President of Iraq’s Kurdish Regional Government (KRG), Nechirvan Barzani, to discuss the latest situation in the region.

Türkiye’s Communications Directorate posted a statement on the Turkish social media platform, NSosyal.

Erdogan said Türkiye will continue working to prevent actions that could cause a long-term regional disaster.

He added that recent movements by terrorist organisations and their affiliated groups are being closely monitored.

He said Türkiye is working to resolve conflicts and promote a return to talks.

Both Erdogan and Barzani highlighted the importance of the “Terror-Free Türkiye” initiative.
