Abuja:  The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its confidence in Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, re‑electing him as National Chairman in a move party leaders say will strengthen internal cohesion and continuity at the helm.

At its 8th national convention on Friday, the party also returned all National Working Committee (NWC) members by consensus and voice vote.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the newly elected NWC members, who were immediately sworn in, would steer the party’s affairs in the next four years.

Some NWC members are Ali Dalori (Deputy National Chairman, North); Emma Eneukwu (Deputy National Chairman, South); Surajudeen Basiru (National Secretary); Alhaji Bashir Gumel (National Financial Secretary); and Murtala Kankia (National Legal Adviser), among others.

In his acceptance speech, Yilwatda said the NWC was ready to lead and rebuild Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu.

“Our mission is clear. Together, we will build a Pan-African and Pan-Nigerian party that is stronger, transparent, inclusive, and more disciplined and united than ever.

“We will deepen internal democracy. So that every member is heard, we will strengthen our structures so that everyone trusts them.

We will expand our reach, so the message of renewed hope reaches every community.

“We will empower our youth because they are not just the future, but they are a huge and important part of our today,” he said.

Yilwatda commended Tinubu for his support for the party and his leadership of the country.

He said APC’s future is tied to Nigeria’s, anchored in the administration’s renewed hope agenda.

“Already, we are seeing the signs; all economic reforms are stabilising our public finances and economy.

He mentioned investments in infrastructure—roads, rails, energy—and a new focus on social investment and digital innovation to protect the vulnerable.

I fully accept this moment with an understanding of history, our people’s expectations, and the urgency now demands.

This convention is not a toy with a crown, but a duty carrying the trust of millions of members.

From today, the burden of leading and providing for millions of our members across every ward and state rests on our shoulders.

While pledging to lead an open-door party administration, Yilwatda expressed confidence that the party would win the 2027 general election.
