Lagos: The Police Command in Lagos State has disbursed N53.3 million to the families of officers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty.
The presentation ceremony was held at POWA Hall, Ikeja, on Thursday, as part of the activities marking Police Week 2026 in Lagos State.
At the event, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr Fatai Tijani, presented the cheques under the Police Family Welfare Scheme on behalf of Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
This initiative supports bereaved families, recognises officers who lost their lives in active service across Lagos State, and honours their sacrifices.
Reflecting the scale of support provided to beneficiaries, the total sum disbursed under the Police Family Welfare Scheme was N53,387,209.48.
Tijani said, “The sacrifices of our fallen heroes will never be forgotten, and the Force remains committed to their families.”
He also reassured families left behind of ongoing support, emphasising the Force’s commitment to easing their hardships and addressing welfare challenges.
Beneficiaries described the support as timely and deeply appreciated, stating it would help ease the burden following the loss of their loved ones.
They added that the gesture would significantly support their welfare and help sustain livelihoods after the loss of their loved ones.
