Abuja: Former President Goodluck Jonathan urged leaders to draw inspiration from the life of Christ and prioritise the common good over personal interests.
Continuing his message in Abuja on Sunday, Jonathan emphasised that leadership demands service, sacrifice and humility.
He further urged citizens to maintain their faith in Nigeria despite the current challenges.
Jonathan noted that the Easter period calls for reflection on God’s boundless love for mankind and His gifts of redemption and salvation.
He described the death and resurrection of Christ as the bedrock of the Christian faith, calling it a victory over death and a message of hope for all believers.
“Easter speaks to us about faith, sacrifice and service. These are not just Christian virtues; they are the values that hold a nation together.
He called on all citizens to remain steadfast in their hope and faith in the nation.
Recognising the country’s current challenges, Jonathan reminded citizens that Nigeria has endured hard times before and urged them not to give up, but to keep faith with the nation.
Addressing leaders at every level, he encouraged them to draw inspiration from the life of Christ, reminding them that Christ gave everything he had.
“True leadership demands that we live above personal interest and serve with sacrifice, humility, and sincerity. This way, we can build a peaceful and prosperous country,” Jonathan said.
