Troops Crush Kirawa Assault: 12 Terrorists Neutralised, Arms Cache Seized

by TheDiggerNews

Abuja: In a decisive show of force, troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) repelled a coordinated terrorist attack along the Kirawa axis in Borno State, killing 12 assailants and recovering a significant cache of weapons. The foiled assault underscores the military’s heightened vigilance and operational dominance in the region.

This is contained in a statement by the Media Information Officer of OPHK, Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, on Saturday.

Uba said the attack occurred on Friday, when suspected terrorists attempted to infiltrate troops’ locations held by 153 Task Force Battalion and supporting units along the Nigeria–Cameroon border corridor.

He said the attackers were swiftly detected and engaged by alert troops and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), who used superior firepower, forcing them to withdraw in disarray.

Uba added that intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance assets, along with the OPHK Air Component, provided coordinated support during the operation.

Following the clash, troops confirmed the elimination of 12 terrorists, while several others fled with gunshot wounds, with blood trails marking their escape routes.

Recovered items include AK-47 rifles, rocket-propelled grenade launchers, a PKT machine gun, and assorted ammunition, further crippling the terrorists’ combat capability in the area.

Troops remain vigilant as they pursue fleeing terrorists and seek more materiel.

Uba stated the military high command commended the troops for their bravery and rapid response, urging continued pressure against terrorist groups across the theatre.

He reaffirmed the theatre command’s commitment to ensuring the complete neutralisation of terrorist elements and the restoration of security across the North East.
