Lagos: In an exciting move, Spotify has become the official sponsor and exclusive streaming partner for Afro Nation Portugal’s 2026 edition, aiming to connect the festival with audiences worldwide through its platform.
This partnership will introduce a special Afro Nation hub on Spotify, where fans can explore featured artists, enjoy the festival’s official playlist, and catch selected performance videos after the event wraps up.
The three-day festival is set to rock Portimão, Portugal, from July 3 to July 5. Spotify sees this collaboration as a way to build on Afro Nation’s ongoing mission to promote Afrobeats and African music on a global scale, while also showcasing the streaming service’s commitment to African creativity.
The festival hub will give fans a chance to engage with Afro Nation before, during, and after the live event, whether they’re there in person or tuning in from afar.
Rifumo Mdaka, Spotify’s Content Marketing Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, emphasised that Afro Nation is more than just a festival; it’s “a global expression of African music, fan culture, and creative influence.”
He shared that this partnership is all about amplifying that experience: “By bringing the festival to Spotify, we’re creating a space for fans to connect with the artists, performances, and stories that make the festival special, long after the last set ends.”
Mdaka also mentioned that this collaboration is part of Spotify’s ongoing mission to uplift African music through artist discovery, playlisting, live performance captures, and storytelling driven by fans.
Plus, the platform will follow one of its biggest fans on their journey to Afro Nation Portugal, showcasing the vibrant global community surrounding African music.
