The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kebbi State has sanctioned 12 corps members with an extension of their service year for various infractions.
Six others, five men and one woman, were declared to have absconded from service.
State Coordinator, Mr Bala Dabo‑Kagarko, disclosed this during the passing‑out ceremony of 478 members of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream I in Birnin Kebbi.
The event, held on Thursday, was a modest but significant occasion marking the end of a year of national service.
Dabo‑Kagarko congratulated the graduating corps members for their resilience, tolerance, and dedication.
He praised their contributions to education, healthcare, agriculture, and community development across Kebbi, describing their service as a milestone that closes one chapter and opens another.
He urged the corps members to embrace entrepreneurship and self‑reliance, noting that the job market can no longer absorb all graduates.
He commended the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme for equipping participants with practical skills to become employers of labour and wealth creators.
The coordinator also reminded them to promote national unity, avoid risky night journeys, and prioritise safety as they move into the next phase of their lives.
One corps member, Grace Opeyemi Oluwa (KB/25B/0209), received the State Coordinator’s Commendation Letter for outstanding service. The ceremony was monitored by Mrs Eghieje Mary, Deputy Director from the NYSC North‑West Area Office II in Sokoto.
Out of the 478 participants, 318 men and 160 women received their Certificates of National Service.
