President Bola Tinubu has joined the Christian community in Nigeria in mourning the death of Rev. Dr William Okoye, Founder and General Overseer of the All Christians Fellowship Mission (ACFM) and former Chaplain of the Aso Villa Chapel.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the President extended his condolences to the family, friends, and associates of the cleric, describing him as “a man of deep faith and principle” whose passing leaves a void in the nation’s spiritual life.
Rev. Okoye served as Chaplain of the Aso Villa Chapel during the administrations of Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, a role in which Tinubu noted he “greatly contributed to the spiritual growth and well-being of Christians under his pastoral care.”
Beyond the pulpit, the late cleric was deeply involved in national service. He was a member of the Presidential Advisory Council on Youth Affairs, the National Political Reform Conference, and the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission. Tinubu praised him as “a strong advocate for unity, patriotism and national development” who earned trust and admiration across the country.
“Rev. Okoye dedicated himself to building a better society,” the President said, adding prayers for the eternal repose of his soul and comfort for his family, the ACFM congregation, and all who mourn his loss.
The statement was signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy
