Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has likened President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Singapore’s founding leader, Lee Kuan Yew, praising his economic reforms as transformative and predicting they will secure him a second term in 2027.
Speaking at a state dinner in Owerri on Friday to mark the conclusion of a three‑day national media inspection of federal and state projects, Uzodimma said Tinubu assumed office “fully prepared” to confront Nigeria’s economic challenges. He described the President’s policies as bold measures that ended “the old order” and ushered in a new phase of development.
The governor acknowledged that the reforms have brought hardship but insisted they are already yielding results, citing increased revenues available to states for infrastructure, healthcare, education, and technology. “Everything we are doing in Imo today is made possible because of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.
Uzodimma drew a biblical analogy, comparing Nigeria’s pre‑reform economy to the Israelites’ bondage in Egypt, and argued that Tinubu’s decisions were necessary to free the country from stagnation.
The inspection tour, organised by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in conjunction with the Presidential Communications Team, brought more than 40 senior editors and journalists to Imo. Veteran journalist Dr Soni Daniel commended Uzodimma’s “remarkable developmental strides,” while presidential aide Sunday Dare highlighted projects such as the Imo Digital City, a 2,000‑bed Infectious Disease Centre, and the Heart Transplant Centre in Orlu as evidence of the Renewed Hope Agenda’s impact.
Uzodimma expressed confidence that Nigerians will reward Tinubu’s policies with another term in 2027, saying the benefits will become more evident as reforms deepen.
