Bauchi, Nigeria: The Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has launched a series of programmes aimed at promoting children’s rights and welfare, reinforcing its commitment to social responsibility and inclusive education.

Dr Bello Beli, Deputy Director of Entrepreneurship Development of the institution, said this in an interview with journalists on Monday in Bauchi.

He said the introduction of the new programmes of study was sequel to the revised curriculum for the 2024/2025 academic session by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

According to Beli, the new courses include Fundamentals of Child Rights Reporting, Child Advocacy Reporting and Community Child Rights Issues Reporting.

“The courses have already commenced with the 2024/2025 academic session, and will run from Ordinary National Diploma (OND) to Higher National Diploma (HND),” he said.

Beli said the initiative would equip students with the necessary skills to report child rights and related issues professionally.

“There are guidelines for reporting on children.

“The students will be trained in various aspects to prepare them for the tasks ahead after schooling,” he added.

He said the students are expected to develop the ability to project the voices of vulnerable groups while adhering to ethical standards as media professionals.

Beli said the courses would help them to package reports and media content without violating children’s rights.
