Ilorin — The Kwara State Government has urged residents to remain vigilant as they prepare for New Year’s Day crossover services, warning against non-essential movements and large gatherings that could be targeted by criminal elements.
The advisory, issued on Wednesday in Ilorin by the Commissioner for Communication, Bolanle Olukoju, followed intelligence reports suggesting that certain actors may attempt to attack government infrastructure or other soft targets to avenge recent losses.
“This advisory becomes necessary as intelligence reports show that some bad-faith actors plan to hit government infrastructures or other soft targets to avenge recent losses they suffered,” Olukoju stated.
He emphasized that citizens should be particularly cautious during crossover services and the New Year holiday, while assuring that security forces are intensifying efforts to safeguard lives and property.
The statement further encouraged residents to promptly report any unusual movements, especially motorcycle convoys, to security agencies for swift action.
