Port Harcourt: Asari Dokubo, the Amanyanabo of Torusarama Piri in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, has pledged unwavering support for the reelection of President Bola Tinubu in 2027, citing the President’s loyalty during his most difficult times.
Dokubo made the declaration on Tuesday when the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, paid him a courtesy visit at his palace in Degema. Commending Wike for the visit, the traditional ruler said Tinubu had stood by him in the past, and it was now his turn to reciprocate.
“As you said, my friend, everything that is going to happen, I will be with you in making sure that my friend, the President, succeeds. Everything that I am capable of doing, I will do to make sure that he succeeds,” Dokubo stated.
Reflecting on his long-standing relationship with Tinubu, Dokubo recalled: “I was not a traditional ruler when we met in 1992. I never thought I would ever become what I am today. He stood by me in my most difficult period, and it is now my turn to also stand by him and support him.”
Earlier, Wike explained that his visit was to thank the community for their support and to encourage them to rally behind Tinubu’s reelection bid in 2027. He also extended new year greetings to the people and expressed gratitude for the warm reception.
“I know that traditional rulers don’t play politics. But you are my friend, and I felt there’s no way I would come here, where you reside, and your kingdom, without coming to greet you and to say happy new year,” Wike said.
The visit underscores the growing political alliances ahead of the 2027 elections, with traditional leaders and community stakeholders being courted to strengthen grassroots support for the President’s second-term ambition.
