Abuja: The Interim National Chairman of the Labour Party, Sen. Nenadi Usman, has called for stronger legislative and policy measures to promote greater women’s inclusion in governance and decision-making processes in Nigeria.
Usman, in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja to mark the 2026 International Women’s Day, congratulated women worldwide, particularly Nigerian women, whom she described as resilient and hardworking.
She emphasised that empowering women and ensuring their participation in leadership positions drives the country’s development.
The former senator, who said she had consistently advocated for the rights and advancement of women during her time in the National Assembly, urged stakeholders to intensify efforts to fashion policies that would strengthen women’s representation in public life.
She asserted that Nigeria can only achieve its full potential by fully recognising and representing the voices, talents, and leadership of women in all sectors of national life.
Usman encouraged Nigerian women to keep contributing to nation-building and to strive for greater inclusion in governance.
