Alhaji Ardo‑Risku Mohammed and Yakubu Isah slain after attending security peace talks; police launch full investigation.

The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the killing of Alhaji Ardo‑Risku Mohammed, Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), and his associate, Yakubu Isah, in an attack by unknown gunmen.

Police spokesperson DSP Udeme Edet said the victims were ambushed on Friday while returning from a security meeting in Ohimini Local Government Area. The meeting, focused on peace and security challenges in local communities, had ended successfully before the victims set out for home.

According to Edet, the attack occurred in Otukpo Local Government Area, where both men were shot dead by the assailants. She noted that the command has opened a full investigation into the killings and pledged that security agencies will identify, arrest, and prosecute those responsible.

Mohammed’s presence at the meeting was part of ongoing efforts to improve security and promote peaceful coexistence in the state. The police have urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with investigators by providing credible information.

Authorities appealed to members of the public with useful leads to contact security agencies to aid the probe.
