Gov. Yusuf commends agencies for averting tanker fire in Kano

Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has commended emergency response agencies for averting a petrol tanker explosion on Wednesday along the Gwarzo Road.

The incident occurred near the NYSC Secretariat Junction when a tanker laden with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) lost balance and fell while attempting to enter a filling station. This raised fears of a major fire outbreak in the densely populated area.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Mr Sanusi Bature, Yusuf lauded the prompt intervention of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Federal Fire Service, Nigerian Red Cross Society, and Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA).

“Their swift response not only prevented a disaster but also ensured the safety of lives and property while restoring normal traffic flow,” he said.

The governor also commended the synergy among the responding agencies and stressed the importance of continued collaboration in emergencies.

He urged petroleum tanker drivers and filling station operators to adhere strictly to safety protocols during loading and offloading to prevent future incidents.

Yusuf reiterated his administration’s commitment to enhancing public safety, pledging to strengthen emergency response systems and inter-agency coordination across the state.
