Muhammad reiterated the council’s commitment to supporting immunisation campaigns and other public health initiatives to prevent the spread of communicable diseases among children.

“The success of this immunisation exercise depends on seamless collaboration across our border communities,” Muhammad emphasised, urging all participants to develop a unified, effective strategy.

Dr Sabiu Ali, World Health Organisation (WHO) Assistant Public Health Officer overseeing the Babura, Suletankarkar, and Yankwashi cluster, outlined the meeting’s objectives.

He said the objectives were to review lessons from previous immunisation rounds, evaluate preparedness levels, and establish joint action plans that ensured synchronised efforts across all participating local governments.

The District Head of Babura, Alhaji Muhammad Nata’ala, highlighted the importance of inter-LGA collaboration and called on health workers to create robust information-sharing networks.

“This coordination is essential for the early detection and rapid response to suspected disease outbreaks,” he said.

Local governments represented included Dutsi, Kankiya, Baure, and Zango from Katsina; Tsanyawa, Kunchi, Danbatta, and Makoda from Kano; and Yankwashi, Babura, Kazaure, Roni, and Gwiwa from Jigawa State.

The meeting also welcomed WHO representatives, including the Border Consultant from Katsina State, reinforcing international support for the initiative.
