Makkah: Alhaji Munnir Haidara, the Chairman of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area (LGA), Zamfara State, says his administration has supported 73 pilgrims from the LGA with 60,000 riyals (N30 million).
Haidara, who disclosed this while speaking with reporters in Makkah on Friday, urged the pilgrims to pray for the state and Nigeria to overcome the insecurity bedevilling the country.
The LG chairman said that he donated the money to complement the efforts of the state governor, Dauda Lawal, who donated 100 dollars to each of the 1,511 pilgrims from the state.
He said that since the inception of the Hajj operation, his administration has provided vehicles for the pilgrims, which transport them to orientation camp, where they are trained on the rudiments of Hajj rites.
“We also supported them with money to buy food before leaving for Sokoto International Airport.
“Also, here in Saudi Arabia, I first visited them and donated 10,000 riyals. After we came back from Mina, I also gave them 50,000 riyals.
“This year, Gov. Dauda Lawal Dare has performed wonderfully well for our pilgrims because he has donated 100 dollars to all our pilgrims, including the government’s sponsors.
“So, we are delighted and proud of our government,” the LG boss said.
He urged the pilgrims to pray for the state government to overcome security challenges.
“Our pilgrims should pray for the state because insecurity exists while we are here.
“Let us pray very hard for the state so that we can successfully end this menace of insecurity,” he said. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng).
