Port Harcourt:  Vice Adm. Ibok-Ete Ibas (Retd.), the Administrator of Rivers, has urged corps members to make meaningful contributions that will improve the living standards of residents in their host communities.

Ibas made the remark during the closing ceremony for the 2025 Batch A Stream II corps members, held in Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area of Rivers on Tuesday.

The administrator, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Worika, praised the corps members for their discipline and dedication in serving Nigeria.

He reminded the corps members that the Community Development Service (CDS) was designed to enable fresh graduates to leave lasting legacies in their primary place of service.

“Therefore, you must demonstrate the utmost commitment in improving the lives of members of your host communities,” he charged the corps members.

Ibas further encouraged them to integrate fully with residents of their host communities and to learn about the cultures of others.

The administrator commended the corps members for their conduct throughout the orientation course.

Earlier, Mr Moses Oleghe, State Coordinator of the NYSC in Rivers, said that 2,302 corps members had completed the orientation exercise, comprising 931 males and 1,371 females.

He advised the corps members to make maximum use of the opportunities during their service year and urged them to make a difference by positively impacting the lives of the people.

“You should also explore your passion, develop skills, and gain insights that will shape your future,” Oleghe stated.
