Epe: No fewer than 3,000 residents of Epe Division in Lagos turned out on Tuesday for a mega rally organised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to seek support for its candidates ahead of the July 12 local government elections in the state.
The rally was held at the Epe Recreation Centre. It brought together party faithful, community leaders, youths and others in a show of solidarity for APC chairmanship and councillorship candidates across the division.
Mr Akanni Seriki, a Member of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), said the large number of participants demonstrated the people’s trust in the APC administration and its commitment to grassroots development.
He urged Epe residents to come out en masse and vote for continuity, competence and progress.
Mr Adeyemi Ikuforiji, a former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, advised the people to vote for tested and trusted candidates, who would understand the peculiar needs of the local communities.
He said that local governments played a pivotal role in socio-economic development.
Mr Monsuru Akinloye, Chairman of the Eredo Local Council Development Area in the state, expressed appreciation for the support from APC members and Epe residents.
He stated that the APC would continue to deliver dividends of democracy at the grassroots level.
Ms Surah Animashaun, Chairman of Epe Local Government, encouraged voters to protect their votes and maintain peaceful conduct during the polls.
She stated that the APC administration in the council area had achieved significant progress in the areas of health, education, and infrastructure provision.
Also, Mr Wale Anomo, Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area, expressed commitment to the progress of the area through the provision of more infrastructure.
Mr Sesan Olowa, Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance and youth empowerment. He urged members of the electorate to participate actively in the elections.
