Abuja: Pride Football Club of Abuja dominated Ejike Ugboaja FC in their FCT FA Super Six League Division One match on Tuesday, securing a 2-0 victory at the Area 3 football pitch in Abuja.
Alhassan Habib of Pride FC scored both goals, with Franklin Eze assisting in the 36th minute to take the lead.
On resumption of the second half, both teams showed determination, tightening their defences.
Joseph Olasupo made the run to Habib, who pulled over to double the goal for Pride FC in the 67th minute, sealing all three points to end the game 2-0.
Speaking after the match, Pride FC Coach Olatunji Yusuf, who praised his team, said that it was a tough match against a formidable opponent.
“The Super Six comprises capable teams, and the team we played today was strong.
“I thank God that we came out victorious. It was a good fight for my boys. Our opponent fought hard, but our game plan worked out well today following our 1-3 loss to IB Sporting Dream FC in the first match played on July 3,” he said.
In another match, Maracana FC drew youthful Ballers FA 1-1. The FCT FA Super Six League Division One, which commenced on July 3, is scheduled to conclude on July 12 in Abuja.
A total of six teams, comprising Maracana FC, Youthful Ballers FA, Ejike Ugboaja FC, Pride FC, IB Sporting Dream, and Golden Boys FC, are participating in the league.
IB Sporting Dream FC will square off against Ejike Ugboaja FC on Friday at 9 a.m., and Golden Boys will take on Maracana FC at 11:00 a.m. in their last match.
The FCT FA Super Six League Division One, which commenced on July 3, is scheduled to conclude on July 12.
