Birnin Kebbi: Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi has directed the payment of N2.185 billion in entitlement to former Councillors who served from 2004 to 2024.
Alhaji Ahmed Idris, Chief Press Secretary to the Kebbi Governor, disclosed this in a statement issued to the media in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
Idris quoted his principal as giving the directive while receiving the leadership of Kebbi Councillors’ Forum on a courtesy visit at Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
The governor assured the former councillors of his readiness to support them in their success.
He also ordered that part payment of the amount be made immediately, instructing that the remaining balance should be paid by the end of July.
The Chairman of the forum, Alhaji Bello Gulumbe, appreciated the governor for honouring what he said many successive administrations refused to honour.
He assured the governor that all the former councillors in the state had no option but to rally round him to actualise his dreams.
