Lokoja: Governor Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State has emphasised the importance of adopting modern digital tools to promote transparency, enhance accountability, and foster collaboration in project execution.
The governor, represented by his Deputy, Joel Salifu, made the call during the opening ceremony of a capacity-building workshop held in Lokoja on Monday.
According to him, adopting such innovations is crucial for ensuring that public resources are managed efficiently and that projects deliver tangible benefits to the people.
Ododo said that every government project must contribute meaningfully to the economic prosperity and long-term sustainable development of the state and its people.
He warned that projects lacking clear value or impact would not be tolerated under his administration, as the government prioritises value-driven and people-focused development.
The workshop was organised for Project Implementation Units (PIUs) of World Bank-supported projects operating within Kogi.
Ododo noted that building the capacity of implementing officers was essential for addressing common bottlenecks and aligning projects with global standards and expectations.
He stated that training participants must apply the knowledge and skills they gain to improve efficiency and ensure the timely delivery of all ongoing and future projects.
The governor added that capacity-building efforts would continue to be prioritised, as they play a central role in fostering a culture of excellence in public service.
He commended the State Accountant General, Mrs Habibat Onumoko, for her dual role as State Portfolio Focal Person and for providing leadership in project coordination.
Ododo also acknowledged the consulting firm, Trendtech, for its professionalism and strategic partnership in organising and facilitating the impactful training sessions.
He encouraged other government officials and stakeholders to emulate such dedication and commitment to institutional development and service delivery.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to upholding accountability, ensuring the prudent use of resources, and achieving lasting results for the benefit of all Kogi residents.
