He noted that the Awujale’s personality and dignity were never in doubt, and his leadership left a lasting impression.

Zulum said, “The relationship between Borno and South-Western Nigeria cannot be overemphasised.

“We share many cultural and traditional similarities that bind us as one people.

“We could not simply commiserate over the telephone; that is why we came personally.”

He described the late Awujale as a good man, praying that his family finds the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

Zulum commended the Ogun governor for promoting unity across political and ethnic lines through his outreach to different regions.

In response, Abiodun stated that the late Oba Adetona was a principled and integrity-driven man, deeply dedicated to his people.

He noted the Oba’s commitment to religious harmony, treating all subjects equally regardless of their faith.

“He called a spade a spade and remained consistent in his convictions until the very end.

“Oba Adetona meant something to everyone. He was a father figure to all his people,” he said.

Abiodun thanked the Borno governor for the visit, revealing he was the first person he informed about the Oba’s death in London.

“Your gesture and your compassion touch me. It means more than words can express.

“You’ve shown genuine connection, brotherhood, and love. Ogun and Borno share rich traditions and historical ties.

“You considered it a duty to visit us, and that speaks volumes about your leadership and humanity. Thank you,” Abiodun said.

Prince Adesire Adetona, the Oba’s first son, expressed gratitude for the national recognition his father’s passing received.
