Gunu Village Boat Incident Leaves Uncertainty, asNSEMA Launches Response

Minna: A boat accident in Gunu village, located in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, has left families in shock and rescue teams scrambling for answers.

According to a statement issued by the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Dr Ibrahim Hussaini, Director of Information and Special Duties, the mishap occurred around 11:45 a.m. as a vessel carrying passengers and market goods to Kwata, Zumba Market, capsized mid-river in Minna, Niger State.

According to the statement, the incident occurred at about 11:45 a.m. when a boat conveying an unspecified number of passengers and goods to Kwata, Zumba Market, capsized mid-river.

Hussaini said the boat operator and a few passengers were rescued, with one currently receiving treatment at the General Hospital in Kuta.

He noted that the number of casualties could not yet be confirmed as search and rescue operations were ongoing at the time of filing this report.

NSEMA desk officers are conducting the operation in collaboration with local divers and volunteers.
