NSC hails Karate Championship standard

The African Karate Championship has received commendation from the Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, who described it as impressive.

Dikko said in his commendation statement, “I congratulate these cadet karate athletes for winning five medals for the country on day one of the competition.

” We have various federations hosting African championships, and this is showing that we are on the right track.

“The main concern is to see the drastic development of our sports,” he said.

Nigeria finished second in day one of the competition with one gold, two silver, and two bronze medals.

Egypt topped the medal table with eight gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.

Senegal, Morocco, and Niger are tied in third position with one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal each.

A total of 31 countries are participating in the Championship which began on Monday, July 21, and concludes on Sunday, July 27, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
