Abuja: Samuel Olatunji, President of the Nigeria Arm Wrestling Federation, states that the body is working towards the inclusion of the sport in the 2026 National Sports Festival (NSF) in Enugu.
Olatunji disclosed on Saturday, on the sidelines of the African Arm Wrestling Championship in Abuja.
“The performance of Nigerian athletes in this championship is a significant improvement over previous years, and I’m very proud.
“We’ve seen notable progress in the sport and have already initiated discussions with the National Sports Commission (NSC) to include arm wrestling in the upcoming festival.
“We are also working to reintegrate the sport into the Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA), which remains a vital platform for discovering new talent,” he said.
Over 20 countries are participating in the two-day championship, which concludes today in Abuja.
