Osogbo: Despite ongoing efforts to boost civic participation, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State reports that 360,794 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) remain unclaimed by registered voters.

Speaking ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial race at a news conference in Osogbo, on the preparedness of the commission for the Osun 2026 governorship election and the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), Resident Electoral Commissioner Dr. Mutiu Agboke urged citizens to take advantage of the upcoming Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), beginning August 18 online and August 25 physically across 30 LGAs.

Agboke said that Osun State has a total number of 1,954,800 registered voters with 360,794 permanent voter cards yet to be collected.

He urged journalists to assist the commission in enlightening and mobilising the electorate to participate in the CVR and collection of their PVCs.

“We are here again to solicit your unwavering support for the two major activities we have ahead.

“First is the Continuous Voters Registration and the 2026 Governorship Election in Osun State.

“The CVR shall commence with an online registration on August 18, while the in-person or physical registration shall commence on August 25, across the 30 local government offices in Osun, including the Area office at Modakeke,” he said.

Agboke said that the online registration for prospective registrants would be done on the INEC website: www.cvr.inecnigeria.org.

He said that after completing the online registration forms, prospective registrants can later visit INEC local government offices for biometrics capturing, which includes facial and fingerprint scans.

He stated that physical biometric capturing will be conducted between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily, at no cost.

The REC said that notice of election for the 2026 Governorship Election shall be released and posted in all 30 local government offices and the Area Office on August 13.

He said other programmes relating to the Osun governorship election would follow a series of activities, as contained in the timetable released by the commission’s headquarters.
