Dutse: The Federal University Dutse (FUD) is set for a major academic expansion as the National Universities Commission (NUC) greenlights 26 new programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.
From the sciences to the humanities, this move marks a new chapter in the university’s drive for excellence and innovation.
This is contained in a statement on Monday by the university’s Acting Director of Public Affairs, Alh. Abdullahi Yahaya-Bello, in Dutse.
Yahaya-Bello said the approval was conveyed to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulkarim Mohammed, through a letter signed by the NUC’s Acting Director of Academic Planning, Mr Abubakar Girei.
He noted that NUC verification teams had visited the university months earlier to assess the human and material resources available for the proposed programmes.
The newly approved programmes include B.Sc Food Science and Technology, B.Sc Arabic, B.Sc Industrial Chemistry, B.Sc Industrial Mathematics, Ph.D Chemistry and Ph.D Mathematics.
Others include PGD, M.Sc, and Ph.D. in Fisheries and Aquaculture, MFA Master in Fisheries and Aquaculture, and PGD, M.Sc, and Ph.D. in Environmental Management and Toxicology.
Also approved are PGD, M.Sc and Ph.D Human Anatomy; PGD, M.Sc and Ph.D Human Physiology; and PGD, M.Sc and Ph.D Soil Science and Crop Science.
Further approvals cover Ph.D. Animal Science, Ph.D. Animal Production, PGD, M.Sc., Ph.D. Management, MBA, and Master’s in Business Administration.
Other new offerings include PGD, M.Sc, and Ph.D. in Taxation, Master’s in Taxation and Fiscal Policy, Ph.D. in English, and PGD in Civil Society in Development (PGDCSD).
Also approved are Master of Civil Society in Development (MCSD), Ph.D. in Political Science, Ph.D. in Criminology and Security Studies, and Master’s in Criminal Justice and Security Administration.
Finally, PGD, M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Biochemistry were approved, rounding up the comprehensive expansion of FUD’s postgraduate and undergraduate academic offerings.
