Damaturu: In a heartwarming gesture of recognition, Alhaji Kashim Tumsah, a lawyer and development advocate, has awarded N1.5 million and brand-new laptops to three exceptional students from Yobe State who triumphed at the 2025 TeenEagle Global English Championship in London.

Nafisa Abdullahi, 17,  Ruqayya Fema, 15 and Hadiza Kalli, all students of Nigeria Tulip International College, Mamudo, represented Nigeria at the competition and beat 20,000 participants from 69 countries.

They scored the highest marks in debate and English language skills, and received an outstanding talent award for creativity and unique presentation.

Tumsah, a lawyer and diplomat, made this known to journalists on Tuesday in Damaturu, saying that each of the students would receive N500,000 and a brand new laptop.

“We proudly celebrate the outstanding achievement of three brilliant young students from Yobe – Nafisa, Rukayya and Hadiza – who brought honour to Nigeria at the TeenEagle Global English Championship in London.

“Emerging victorious among over 20,000 participants from 69 countries, these students have not only demonstrated academic excellence and discipline but highlighted the immense potential of Nigerian youth, particularly from the North-East,” the statement read in part,” he said.

Tumsah, also known as KMT, attributed the teenagers’ success to the impact of sustained investment in education under the administration of Gov. Mai Mala Buni.

He stated that the Governor’s commitment to improving the learning environment in the state was yielding “exceptional results.”

“This milestone is a source of pride not only for Yobe but for Nigeria. It stands as a powerful reminder of what is possible when talent meets opportunity,” he said.
Earlier in the year, Tumsah had awarded N100,000 each to 29 students of the state who scored 300 and above in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
