Group Pledges Support for Edo Govt on Security Drive

by Our Correspondent

Benin: The Ukhun Youths Diaspora Association has pledged support for the Edo government in its efforts to end insecurity in the Esan community.

This is contained in a statement signed by the group’s leader, Festus Imudia.

Imudia said Ukhun youths in Esan West Local Government Area are ready to assist the state in resolving insecurity challenges across the Esan community.

The community has faced kidnappings and militia herders attacks, forcing farmers to abandon their lands and women to suffer abductions and molestation.

The insecurity has devastated both the local economy and residents’ livelihoods.

Imudia stressed that lasting peace requires collective action, urging all stakeholders to work with the government.

He called for unity in confronting the security crisis. The association also addressed a video shared by one Bruce, known as Esan Voice, alleging that Ukhun youths were arrested for kidnapping.

Imudia clarified that the arrests were over illegal land sales, not kidnapping. He urged Bruce to verify claims before publishing and to apologise to the Ukhun people for spreading misinformation.
