Abuja: As the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church (ESOCS) celebrates its 100th anniversary, its leadership has issued a heartfelt appeal to Nigerian politicians and public officials to confront the deepening hardship facing citizens.
The Baba-Aladura and Prelate of the Church, His Most Eminence, David Bob-Manuel, raised the concerns at a news conference to mark the Church’s 100th anniversary in Abuja on Sunday.
The cleric emphasised the need for leaders to fulfil their electoral promise to enhance the living standards of the people.
He frowned at the self-serving attitude of most elected leaders, who, after receiving the people’s mandate, turn themselves into their lords.
The Prelate admonished politicians to govern with fear of God and prioritise the welfare of the people.
He also admonished them to be compassionate in the use of the country’s resources, making life more meaningful for the downtrodden.
The cleric also called on Nigerians to support their leaders with prayers, while leaders are expected to lead with the fear of God.
He noted that when righteous people are put into office, everything will be well for the less privileged ones.
Bob-Manuel urged Nigerians always to be guided by God in choosing who to lead them.
The ESOCS leader highlighted the Church’s contributions to the country’s educational, political, and economic growth through preaching righteous living and establishing several schools.
According to him, the Church has inaugurated modern hospitals in Port Harcourt. It plans to do the same in Lagos State, providing healthcare services to Nigerians, regardless of their ethnic and religious backgrounds.
He assured that the Church would continue to do its utmost best to contribute to the general development of the country and the well-being of its citizens.
The activities to mark the Church’s 100th anniversary include a thanksgiving service held at the National Christian Ecumenical Centre in Abuja.
The Church will also commission community service projects, including medical outreach programmes nationwide.
The Thanksgiving services, conferences, and pilgrimages will be held across continents, highlighting the Church’s global reach.
The Church leadership said the year-long celebration will conclude with a grand finale on September 9, marking exactly 100 years since the establishment of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church.
